当考古学家西格德对北欧神话的世界末日无法释怀的时候，他毅然决定与他两位同事带着自己的两个小孩开始了探索旅程，他们来到了芬兰马克，挪威的北部与苏联交界处的无人区。当他们解开真相时才发现，原来石碑符文并不是所想的那样，而是一个做梦也想不到的秘密。。英国曼彻斯特，一栋郊区房子里的住户们各自过着不同于彼此的人生。看似有着一墙之隔，生活却将他们牵到了一起，像每个人一样，看似平常的人生中总会有着一些不同寻常。随着人物故事的逐渐交织，他们开始因为各自隐藏的秘密，以从未料想到的方式被联系到一起……。The film opens with a narrated disclaimer over footage of an opening coffin.
