梅淑卿为了争取自由恋爱，摆脱封建大家庭，选择与江少文这个穷教师到小镇定居结婚。婚后五个子女在十二年内先后出生，儿女一多，经济便有了困难，终于两人都先后为儿女而过度辛劳，在极度贫困中死去，无法完成父母的责任。然而悲剧还未终结，彼时竟有人肉贩子看中他们的大女儿……。Johnny is finally old enough to participate in Porkbelly's Annual Running of the Squirrels, but he has to get past his mom, who thinks it's too dangerous. Johnny, the twins and Mom realize it's Father's Day, and they don't have a gift. They try many disastrous attempts, making Dad wish they had never remembered.。
