21世纪30年代，某座病院内，一台拥有人类孩子的机器人正接受个性指标的测试。他名叫凉风（白石凉子 配音），绰号“小凉”。作为本体的小凉因绝症早已去世，悲痛难耐的父母希望将儿子的记忆植入机器人中，使他们心爱的孩子重返人间。小凉的性能不断提高，某天他在玩耍时，偶然结识了少女清水畔（川澄绫子 配音）。与小凉不同，清水畔因绝症正走向死亡，而且往昔宝贵的记忆也在一点点丧失。他们成为无话不说的好朋友，在秘密基地里度过美好而珍贵的快乐时光。 虽然短暂，或许有一些东西，可以永远留在彼此心中，即使到了那生离死别的时刻……。Tyneside ship-builder Joe Maddison lost his faith in the trenches at the Somme in 1916.
